What does Bible say about love?
Bible gives a lot of verses about love. Love is the purest feeling a person can have for others. God speaks to us through the Bible. There are so many quotes in Bible that speak about Love. Love to others, God’s Love, marital Love, family love etc. The entire law is summoned in “Love One another as I have Loved you”. We read many Bible verses about love but do we really love as Christ Loved us?
Love Others as Christ Loved Us
God tells us to love one another above everything else. It is also stated that Love covers many sins. So, can we love others as a penance for our sins? Sometimes, we can’t just tolerate certain people. But Bible tells us we should be humble, gentle, patient and bear one another in love. So, can we bear the one whom we hate the most? Or can we bear our spouse, parents and children if they are wrong? The world would be a better place if we could see Jesus in everyone (this is one of my artcile, click on it to read it) We know that there is nothing greater than God’s love for us. His love was selfless. And here is asking us to love others the way He has loved us! Can we really try to love others without thinking of our own self? If someone has done wrong, don’t worry. 1 Peter 4:8
Above all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a multitude of sins.
Ephesians 4:2
With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.
John 15:12
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.
Colossians 3:14
Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Love by your actions and not by words
Bible tells us to love others by our actions and not just by words. Be gentle to people, help them. Help your family in their work. Call your parents, siblings and show them that you love them. Love is patient, it is kind, not jealous, it rejoices in doing good but does our love really rejoice in doing good? We our impatient in our love, if someone rejects our love, we behave arrogant and take harsh actions against them. We forget to be kind when it comes to our selfless giving. At times, we join in actions that harm our loved once. But perfect love doesn’t do that. Bible verses give reverence to love above Faith and Hope.
1 John 3:18
Little children, let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is patient, love is kind, love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way, it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; and the greatest of these is love.
1 John 4:8
Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.

Let love be genuine and from your heart
Always love from your heart, let it be genuine. If your partner has 99 bad things in him, still love him for the 1 good thing. Hold on to what is good. Honor your loved once. Don’t insult them or hurt them. Honor your partner, parents and elders all the time as you love them. If you really want to see God, love others because when we love one another God lives in us. Let his love be made perfect in us. Are we ready to lay our career, our happiness, our success to care for our loved one when they really need it?

Let all that you do be done in love.
Romans 12:9-10
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor.
1 John 4:12
No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us.

No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
Love does not hold any fear and expectation
Many times, we doubt our partner and we fear of losing them. But if we read word of God, perfect love casts out fear. Try to reach perfection in love by casting away all fear. We should always do to others what we want them to do for us. If you want someone to help you, you take a step forward and help them. Whenever you love others, don’t expect love in return. 1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love.
Luke 6:35
But love your enemies, do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind to the ungrateful and the wicked.
